The cryptocurrency market has entered another volatile phase, swinging sharply between losses and sudden rallies. Following Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s remarks at Jackson Hole, Bitcoin staged a swift rebound on Friday, surging from $110,000 to nearly $117,000 within hours.
Bitcoin Dominance Declines, Altcoins Gain Momentum
A key trend drawing attention is the slide in Bitcoin dominance, currently hovering near 57%. The shift points to capital rotating into altcoins—a cadence seen in prior bull cycles where Bitcoin runs first, stalls, and then altcoins advance.
Analyst Insight: Where the Next Opportunities May Lie
In a recent interview with Coinpedia, market analyst Lennaert Snyder outlined where he sees the strongest long-term potential beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum, emphasizing Ethereum Layer-2 (L2) scaling and select Layer-1 ecosystems.
Snyder highlighted Arbitrum (ARB) and Optimism (OP) as the two L2s best positioned for durable success, citing developer activity and adoption as key tailwinds—while naming Arbitrum his top pick.
“I also believe ETH L2s will continue to play a major role in scaling Ethereum. That’s why I see Arbitrum and Optimism as strong long-term plays, with ARB as my favorite,” said Snyder (source: Coinpedia interview).
On the Layer-1 front, Snyder pointed to Solana (SOL), Sui (SUI), Tron (TRX), and Injective (INJ) as projects with solid fundamentals. He argued these chains bring distinct strengths—particularly across DeFi activity and stablecoin infrastructure—making them candidates for long-term accumulation.
Outlook: Altcoin Season on the Horizon?
The combination of Bitcoin cooling off, Ethereum setting records, and a rotation into altcoins may set the stage for an altcoin-led rally. While volatility remains elevated, the coming weeks could prove pivotal in determining whether liquidity broadens beyond BTC and ETH into a wider set of ecosystems.
